Location: Maiden Lane (now Park Street), Southwark, London England
Interesting Facts:
-Timber from the "Theatre" which Richard Burbage's father, James, built was used to create the new Globe Theatre. It was much bigger than the original.
-It took a total of approximately 23 years to build.
-They had to transport the timber across the River Thames at one point.
-The Theatre often flooded due to the fact that they built it on marshy land.
-The first ever documented play performed at the Globe Theatre was Every Man Out of His Humour which was written by Ben Jonson.
The Fire:
-The original Globe Theatre was burned down on 29 June, 1613
-During the play Henry VIII a theatrical cannon misfired, igniting the wooden beams
-It was rebuilt the following year but was shut down by Puritans in 1642 because of the "immoral" things that were taking place (i.e. drinking, pick-pocketing, gambling etc.)
-It was officially taken down on 15 April, 1644.

-A modern reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was built in 1997
-It's located about 750 feet from the site of the original Globe Theatre.
